Acupuncture and Fertility

I've become interested in knowing what acupuncture does to fertility recently and here are some quick findings:

Acupuncture is most beneficial for women who experience irregular ovulation. Often Chinese herbs are also recommended to supplement the acupuncture treatment. (If you are receiving medical treatments then let your doctor know, as the herbs can sometimes interfere with your medications).

Studies show that acupuncture does definately increase the rate of pregnancy in women undergoing IVF.

Also woman who receive acupucture are much less likely to have an ectopic pregnancy.

The reason it is supposed to work is because acupuncture:
  • helps regulate blood pressure and flow
  • stimulates the central nervous system boosting the body's natural ability to heal itself
  • Releases endorphins
  • Boosts the neurotransmitters and neurohormones being released into the body.

All very interesting, huh!
